Barry John Smith moved to Hong Kong in 1983 to pursue a career with the Police Force, and successfully rose to the rank of Chief Superintendent and District Commander of Kwun Tong. Equally important is his part in establishing Operation Breakthrough, a programme that seeks to use sport to transform the lives of youth at risk for delinquency. “Through sport, young people can learn everything we would like to teach them, but without it being forced down their throats. And when they learn it for themselves, it takes a hold and they appreciate it.”
