Mikel Arriola consciously chose to devote his life to public service, just as he had seen his father do while growing up. With lifelong values such as honesty and integrity, Mikel set out to achieve as much as he could through the public sector. One of his biggest public-sector jobs came when he served as General Director of IMSS. The challenges were many and yet much of Mikel’s career has been about solving problems. “To diagnose and solve problems, you need the right academic tools – and you need to go about it ethically, so that you can be useful for your country.”
