When Akissi Delta left her native Dimbokro to live with an aunt in Abidjan, she couldn’t have imagined what the big city had in store for her. Every sign pointed to her having the traditional, ordinary life of a housewife, but this self-taught filmmaker knew that she wanted more. Akissi believed in her dreams. Even though she never set foot in a school, she is now an inspiration for an entire generation across the African continent.
