IN SHORT
At age 14, Carmenza Spadafora decided that she wanted to be a biochemist. On board a plane to Michigan, contemplating an almost eternal twilight, she felt that God would not abandon her. And today, at the head of a team of Panamanian researchers, she is about to introduce an invention that could treat malaria through the use of microwave radiation. She loves poetry and classical music, and dreams of creating a biotechnology park in Panama.
