Dr Elsie Effah Kaufmann was the first female appointed to the University of Ghana Physics Department and the founding head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Ghana. Essentially, she has devoted her career to improving science education in Ghana. “I’ve been trying to make a difference in my own courses and trying to get more educators to see the need to make education relevant – I hope we will succeed together.”
