Godwin Ogechukwu, better known as Godwin Strings, at the young age of twenty-two, is reintroducing Nigeria to the passionate sound of violin. Through his penchant for world music, Godwin’s playing harnesses styles ranging from Afrobeat, to rock, to blues. He hopes to one day inspire young musicians just as he himself has been inspired. “I want to be a mentor and an icon. I want my name to be synonymous with violin in Nigeria – for young people interested in music to look up to me and think, ‘I want to play like that person.’”
