A practical optimist, Sally Lo set up the Hong Kong Cancer Fund in 1987 to provide free support and information to anyone touched by cancer. Inspired by the many strong characters in her life – her mother; her mother in law; her friend Nicky, whom she lost to cancer; and Maureen Chen, who taught her mindfulness – and of course her husband, who also battled the cancer in 2014, she has devoted her life to serving the community. “People ask me all the time if my job is difficult,” Sally says, “and yes, it is, but making a difference really, really counts.”
