Inspired by the women in her life, Shirley Frimpong-Manso saw a need for more strong, complicated female characters in African films, so she stepped up to fill that need as a writer, director, and producer. Despite initial rejections, Shirley persisted, and hopes to continue her progressive film work. “The difference between a successful person and everybody else is waking up in the morning wanting to be better, wanting to succeed more.”
