Alejandro Maza, co-founder of OPI, has found his calling in combining science with social contribution. His work focuses on developing accessible digital platforms to help increase political participation, particularly amongst underrepresented groups. And creating tools that help governments analyze and apply big data whilst promoting transparency and accountability. “First, we pushed for laws to be changed so this could happen. Now it’s time to make it happen, to introduce better tools so that information is used well and made public,” he says. “I love my work. I believe in the purpose of this enterprise.”
