Centring his understanding of the world on the privilege he grew up with instead of choosing to turn a blind eye to it, Claudio X. González carved his path in life with social service in mind. “I’ve always felt that with privilege comes responsibility—nay, obligation to help people born in different circumstances,” says the co-founder of Mexicanos Primero, which advocates improving education in Mexico. Tellingly, Claudio sees his key role in the 2013 education reform as a matter of principle rather than personal achievement: “I am offended by injustice and I try to do something about it, nothing more than that.”
