IN SHORT
Born in Conakry, the youngest of a family of six children, Hadja Aïcha Kallo enrolled
to study electromechanics but then switched to general mechanics, where she discovered welding. And, despite some employers’ reluctance to hire a woman, she persevered, using her strong sense of professionalism to earn her spot in this all but male world. Today, Hadja Aïcha is the first female welder in Guinea, working at UMS (United Mining Supply) Group.
