“It is up to us to make a difference,” says Maali Soud Alasousi, Direct Aid’s Country Director for Yemen. Sworn to never stop helping others since she first witnessed the suffering of war as a teen, she has helped hundreds of thousands of people, focusing on education and health for women and youth. Inspired by core Kuwaiti values like generosity, kindness, and humanity, Maali’s vision is to expand her work in Yemen and to train others to sustain the project and carry on the work across MENA and the world. “Life is like a relay marathon,” she says. “You are carrying the baton to pass it on to another generation.”
