IN SHORT
The son of a serviceman and an Arabic teacher, Faiçal Ben always had a strong inclination for fine arts but was led to join the Moroccan Royal Navy. He wore a uniform for seven years until a severe illness set him free. Choosing filmmaking as his medium, he fast became one of the most promising figures of Moroccan cinema. Produced with minimum budgets, his movies marry social commentary, autobiographical elements, onireism and poetry.
