Realizing early on that she did not want to live the thankless life of an uneducated woman completely dependent on often abusive men, Laura Bonilla found the strength to work her way up the corporate ladder to Corporate Affairs Director for Mexico and the Caribbean at Unilever. She has focused her life on happiness—the joy she fi nds in her family and the joy she strives to bring to the lives of others. “Because I lived through hardship and I always remember it, I believe I must do more for my people,” Laura says. “Memories are the reason why you always want people to be okay.”
